Possibly best job site. May not need job if site drives you crazy first though. Win Win?

Reviewed on 2021-02-07T09:56:37

The Ladders can be the best job site by far while still making you bang your head repeatedly on your desk.It can a great tool if you are in certain fields and/or roles that hit on the site's strengths. However, it has so many nuances that I cannot rate it over a 3/5. The key benefit is the Apply4Me function. It saves me many hours of meaningless data entry. It reduces applying for jobs by 20 minutes each. I am looking at 10 metro areas so it is not unusual that I will find 20-30 a week that have promise. That is an entire day of work saved to real work. That is why I can take it, despite the negatives. I still use Glassdoor, LinkedIn, Google, Indeed, PayScale, and more to further research companies, employee satisfaction, culture, compensation, benefits, etc. It works for me because I have been in the IT field for 20 years, senior level engineer for 10+ years. The hiring process is unique for a multitude of reasons. The one relevant for the Ladders is the extreme demand for senior engineers. Apply4Me works for every listing on the site. It is not like the ‘Easy Apply’ other sites have that only few companies allow. It creates a complete profile and application through the company’s career site you can access, change, and monitor after the fact. They continue to improve this and added a new dashboard that show you all applications, when applied, if the post is still active, or date it closed if not. That one page recently introduced addresses a few of the issues people have had all at once and is a reason I hope Ladders will continue to move the right way. Few other outstanding features before all the negatives. Resume templates on site. They look plain and boring, but you can upload resume in Ladders and have it reviewed each time. Do NOT pay for the extra resume services. However, seeing how the automated HR systems see your resume is priceless. Getting this feature for free, granted their partner is trying to sell you something, is worth paying for one month of service. Fixes recently: They added feature to sort jobs posted chronologically. Stale jobs are being flushed out and new jobs are coming in at a constant rate. New dashboard resolves few other issues. The Bad: - Does not save what jobs you have viewed. It shows while you are on that screen. But in search that list many of the same jobs, won’t show that you viewed them. Even if you simply go to a different browser and look at same search, same thing. It shows you some and is random what it remembers ### Update - Ladders appears to have resolved issue, need further testing but definitely far better than before### - Searches not returning results. If you select all the options for years of experience, you will not receive all the results because some may not have that entered. Unless you leave all of those unchecked, you will never see those. This applies across the board, but that is easiest example to provide - Very limited options for distance from city or zip code; 5 miles, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, unlimited. Cannot enter manual value and no other options - No way to mark off jobs not interested in, so they don’t appear again and again in searches - No options to select skills to better prioritize results or disqualify others - No way to exclude specific things like 50% of jobs that come up do not apply to me. If I could exclude anything that has “XYZ Product”, I could cut out sizeable amount of results that are useless - Searches cannot be changed or renamed. You need to do a new search, select options, and everything, even if you only want to rename the search - Industry selection, I want to exclude one, I have to check 25 boxes for each search I create and leave that one unchecked - Aerospace and Defense are combined. I do not want defense, but I want to see aerospace, but I have to see everything. Others are pushed together too - No option to turn off jobs that want clearances despite one optional question they ask is about that - Remote is not completely separate. Appears to be but company could have listing as remote OR at HQ but you only see remote option if you search that way - If you allow remote jobs in your search, they take up everything, need to uncheck them and search areas and do separate search for remote - Remote and Travel are not separated at all. Remote position could be remote because it is 100% travel - Can only have one ‘target’ (home) zip code that gives you recommended jobs within distance provided. And, that field only allows zip codes, not city names. I would recommend a month and use free tools, just buy nothing extra. Those are worth $30 alone. I do not recommend annual plan up front, definitely pay for a month and make you like the site before committing more resources.

Scam Sesen Bio

Reviewed on 2021-02-05T17:09:37

OMG this is a scam place. Jobs are old and got contacted by Sesen Bio and turned out to be a scam. They wanted my bank and address etc. Super unethical. The person who contacted, Mark R. Sullivan, actually is a dead man from up north. Wasted my time for 2 days and thank God for intuition. Lately companies take your resume and add you to a database for mailing and it turns out to be either scams, entry level positions or sales. Total waste of my time!!!

Speak Facts and Truth when writing an Article

Reviewed on 2020-05-18T14:39:57

Good Morning, As I sat here today reading an article By Tim Denning (12 things that are just not worth your time )I became instantly concerned with the he has published and could not, not contact you about it. For the most part I was in agreement with his article, but when you’re putting in advice and combing it with facts, please ensure it is just that “Facts”. Within the section “Political Debates” the writer indicates “ Trying to look for a Jesus-like political candidate is impossible. They’re all guilty of something — even Jesus committed sins.” Jesus Our Lord and Savior did not commit sin, please read your Bible to obtain the truth and fact and then when referring to the Lord speak truthfully, for and to your readers. 2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV [21] For he (God)hath made him (Jesus)to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. The Bible is the truth and only speaks of it, if you are not familiar with the word, it is wise to do so especially during these unforeseen times as you will get comfort and peace from God’s word. I simply ask to please speak the truth and not put your opinion in articles when referencing our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you and Regards,

I have seen it all...using Covid-19 as attention grabber

Reviewed on 2020-04-24T00:51:25

I HAVE SEEN IT ALL...Ladders used past news articles I have read to then make a custom email subject, that they knew I would do a double take, very creepy and inappropriate. Especially that Ladders used Covid-19/Coronavirus click bait articles. What does this have to do with looking for the jobs I have been interested in. What happened to the more appropriate job subject lines. And this was not a Covid-19 and the effects on the workplace/employment article. I wish I had the space to demonstrate how this subject line was focused to myself based on recent research. Very low brow and unprofessional, I think we are all due an apology if this is the Ladders' tactics.

Not Worth the Money - Especially if Remote

Reviewed on 2020-02-19T17:10:39

I am a remote employee who is only seeking remote positions. TheLadders allows candidates to add their zip code and then sends them jobs listings based on that location. This is not helpful at all in terms of looking for a remote position. It's 2020, every job site in the world should have options for Remote Only.

Scam and they keep charging you

Reviewed on 2020-01-15T12:09:46

I signed up for this website and after using it for two months did not get much value for the member ship value so I cancelled my premium services.A few days ago even after I cancelled my account pay pal sent me an email that the Ladders has charged me $60 for another three month subscription. I disputed the charges and contacted their customer service but nothing. Avoid using this site at all cost it is spam.
