nice aesthetics but everything else just sucks

Reviewed on 2021-05-26T13:01:08

The only thing good I can say about this tracker is that its shape and connection design is superior to all I have tried, and I have tried several. My other dog chews the Whistle right off his collar, but the Fi is sleek and integrated into the collar. It’s unobtrusive and the other dog doesnt notice it and leaves it alone. It looks nice too. The good ends there. The app is terrible and pretty sketchy. It is way, way too focused on tracking my phone and for no valid reason. If the dog is connected to the home wifi, he is home, and there is no need to track me. If I am at work and the dog is at home, again, why does the app need to track me? I dont want bluetooth turned on 24/7 on my phone and the app requires it be on to even launch the app. If I am at work the collar cant connect to me. There is zero reason that the app should need bluetooth to load. Sometimes I would like to check on the dog’s location while at work but I want bluetooth turned off all the time (especially at work) unless I have a specific need to have it on when i want it on. The whole point of a GPS tracker (for me) is being able to track my dog should he breach his containment, not to be told he is on a walk with me. If he leaves containment i want a notification, and if he is not with me, i want to open the app and use it to find him. Why is that simple sequence of events so impossible to figure out. Next, the app drains my phone battery. Before the app, and without the app, I charge my phone every 2-3 days, when I get down to about 30%. With the app, I am down to 10% before dinnertime on day 1. They claim they dont track me when I am not with the dog. What and why is it doing what its doing when my dog is at home and I am at work? Maybe its the bluetooth sucking my battery dry. Yet another reason why I dont want it on. And what good is the app or the device if my phone is dead while wandering in the woods trying to find my dog? It is infuriating the way they send notices every sunday evening when i have already gone to bed to tell me my dog ranks 5646 out of 86002 dogs. Opt out of their spammy notices, you say? Right. I thought so too. I opted out but within 1 day of loading the app and entering my phone number I am now getting spammy texts for other things and I have never received any before this app was loaded. Other app complaints: Too much time programming a way to connect to instagram, a social network slash gallery of other users and their photos, a step counter bar graph tab that i dont even think is accurate, and perhaps the biggest insults are obnoxious “ranking” banners that consume 25% of the screen on the live tab. Another 20% of the live tab is the date in gigantic font and some icons that will link you to shopping. All that code wasted when the stated purpose of this device is to find a lost dog. May I suggest that they could try to actually give us a way to do that? There is no customer service. Email replies consist of pleasantries and a canned request for the email address you used when you bought the device. When you reply to that email you never hear back from them again. We lost our original base while traveling. Bought a new collar and base but since deleting the old base from my app I have never been able to get the new base recognized. It just shows a big red error mark and requests for support are unanswered. The collar battery dies in one day. I now have to rely on both dogs getting out together, receiving my alert from Whistle that the other dog is out, and then hope there is enough battery left on the Fi and my phone to track him. The one time he escaped, he hopped into my neighbors car as she arrived home. My notice that he was free running was the call from the neighbor. She got my number off his analog Dogtag. This device has limited utility and problematic configuration made worse by a lowrent cheezy poorly written app designed to advertise itself on instagram as the primary goal and connectivity or finding your pet as an afterthought. The annual contract renewed itself and i still dont think this thing is connected to the right base. I probably wouldnt even have written this review if the customer service didnt suck so bad and i am being blown off for the second contact in a few months. There are other options out there. The only reason I keep this one on the dog is because its the only one my other dog doesnt chew off his collar. If that is not a concern for you, there are better trackers available.

Pet GPS tracking with full of problem and awful customer service

Reviewed on 2021-04-12T20:16:38

BEWARE BUYERS- THIS PRODUCT IS NOT AS GOOD AS ADVERTISEMENT AND THEY WILL NOT REFUND AT ALL AFTER 14 DAYS,BUT YOUR PROBLEM MAY START AS SOON AS IT GOES OUTSIDE THE TIME WINDOW. I purchased the dog GPS collar and it has been nothing but a horrible experience. I originally bought the product as I was afraid my dog may get lost as he loves running. First couple days, it seemed okay and I wasn't able to fully test because it was raining on my area and I wasn't sure if I could use it in wet condition. On my day 10, I started noticing all these issues: 1) location accuracy- the device says I am home when I am out for a walk and vice versa. I compared the Fi data to my other apps including Fitbit and apple health app, Nike Run app, and Fi's accuracy is not even close match. FYI, I do not live in city but suburb area   2) Data lag - the data is not real-time. the app is showing I am still on a walk when I return home  3) App - the function is not working if my app is not turned on and on use. It is consuming batteries so I don't necessarily want to use it when is m on a long walk but your app doesn't work when closed   4) Battery life - I've noticed on just 10 minutes walk, the battery drops from 100% to 95%. It takes 2 hours to recharge to 100%. I am afraid how long it will lose its battery if my dog goes missing  5) Weight - this device is pretty heavy! It may be okay for a couple of minutes but I noticed it starts bothering my dog after about 20 minutes of use.  I requested a refund because it is not doing anything that I wanted (find my dog in case goes missing, fitness tracker, etc) but they simply refused because it has passed 14 days. The site does not say if it is 14 business days or calendar days. The delivery was delayed and I contacted them on the 16th day and it was on the weekend and they only work on M-F so technically it was the 11th business days. They refused to refund the money so I left with the device that's unusable. I was not only disappointed by the product but their support- please read all the negative reviews in Chewy. I really regret I paid $100 and left with a piece of garbage that I cannot use. AVOID THIS COMPANY AND PRODUCT AT ALL COST.

I am forever grateful for my dogs fi…

I am forever grateful for my dogs fi collar. I bought it because a friend recommended it to me (mainly for the fun step tracking and walk tracking features),but only when my dog got loose did I really realize how important it is. I was walking my dog out in a woodsy area when the leash got stuck on a bush and my dog somehow pulled loose. He took off (he is an 8 month old puppy so his recall is basically non existent). He went running and I couldn't find him for 30 minutes. I opened the fi app and got in my car and was able to drive to where the app told me he was. Thankfully he was right there sniffing off to the side of the road, and it was right before he was about to get to a major road. Without the Fi collar I might not have my boy today. It is worth every single penny. You truly never know what will happen. BUY YOUR DOG A FI.

Buyers Beware! Bait and Switch Company

Reviewed on 2021-01-26T19:36:47

Bought two collars, second collar was defective (Network issues, constantly searching for network and battery was bad, drops 20-30% faster than the first one I bought. I emailed them immediately within a day that something is wrong. They made me do test after test for 30 days and I requested replacements twice, but instead of approving a replacement they continued to made me do tests like switch my dogs collars with the good one. By this time, I passed my so called “14 trial period” which the product never really worked properly this entire time. I finally got fed up and request for a refund. They told me my 14 days trial period is over. I disputed the charge and credit card sided with me and gave me my credit. This fraudulent company who sold me a bad unit decides to RE-CHARGE my credit card without my permission and hold my credit card hostage! Now I have to re-dispute the charge and possibly go into a legal battle with them for wasting my time. After about 40 emails back and forth and reading their customer service responses, I’m starting to think their –> TRIAL PERIOD IS A BAIT AND SWITCH BUSINESS SALES TACTIC! (1) if you receive a defective product (2) they don’t replace it within 14 days, (3) you are asked to do tests after tests and wait for their APP update or network update (4) you finally want to return the defective bad unit and a refund but you can’t because they keep repeating “you’re over your 14 days trial period” bullcrap.

Like so many before me. Customer Service is horrible. I have had the trackers for a couple years on 3 dogs and the original worked ok but the tryfi 2 has not worked at all.Once customer service finally responded they tried telling me that my WiFi was slow. When I say well it worked ok before I get no response. I will look for another brand.

My review is almost identical to previous review. Customer service is non existant, they say they respond within 12 hours but it is typically 48. When going to their site their are no terms of service until you purchase. The collars gps is absolutely garbage, multiple notifications that dog has left zone when she is no more than 5 feet from me.when you attempt to return the device they try to run out the clock on the guarantee. Had to dispute as item not as described with pp, which i ended up winning. The device is not useful at all, pure garbage, there should be a zero option for ratings as this company is a total sham. Stay away. So many other options.
