What does Willamette Week do?

Willamette Week is Portland, Oregon's award-winning alternative media outlet. We appear in print (every Wednesday) and online (wweek.com). We also publish Finder, a magazine-sized guide to Portland that's distributed free of charge each June. Willamette Week is the only weekly newspaper ever to win the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting (2005). We believe nothing can empower the people of Portland more effectively than real news, properly considered and illustrated, concerning local life. We remain fiercely independent, and we strive to maintain an edge. We mean not only to be ahead of the competition in terms of news and ideas, but to be daring in our reporting, writing, and presentation. As a result, year in and year out, Willamette Week wins more journalism awards in Oregon than any other non-daily newspaper. Finally, we don't just design and write. We act. Every year Willamette Week produces a successful regional music festival (MusicfestNW), beery political debates (Candidates Gone Wild), a one-of-a-kind food cart celebration (Eat Mobile), a Best of Portland Extravaganza, and Give!Guide, which in 2012 raised more than $1.9 million distributed across 110 local nonprofits.
