Hospital in Tehachapi has illegal billing practices
My Adventist providers are excellent, however the hospital billing office is not. In early January I had labs drawn, I explained to the person checking me in that I have an indemnity plan meaning my union covers the deductible on my plan, over $200 was collected from me anyway. A week later they were paid by my union, and have since kept my money as well. I call every week and am told every time that they see the credit on my account and will begin the refund process. That has been going on for 3 months, while I'm paying interest on the credit card I used. If you can't afford to be without your money for months that should not have been taken from you in the first place, use Quest Labs instead.
I had an appointment scheduled
I had an appointment scheduled, but the clinic changed it without notifying me. They claimed they called, yet my phone shows no missed calls, no incoming calls, and no messages. They said they “documented the call,” but there is no evidence on my end. I ended up wasting a day going to their office for nothing. My prescription also ran out. When I called to renew it, I was told I still had plenty left. The pharmacy, however, said I had none remaining. Tracy insisted I had many refills left, but the pharmacy repeatedly confirmed I did not. Tracy also refused to contact O’Connor to renew the prescription, leaving me stuck in the middle. Another issue is the co‑pay. My co‑pay is $20, and I pay it at the visit. Instead of applying it as the co‑pay, they apply it toward the bill, then send me another bill a month later for an additional $20. That means I end up paying $40 out of pocket for a single visit. They also want me to come in once a week for a blood pressure check, but only when O’Connor is there. He is only available on the days I work, which means I would have to take time off just for a five‑minute blood pressure check. On top of that, they want to charge $188 for the visit, plus another $20 co‑pay, even though it’s not a full doctor appointment. Overall, the lack of communication, billing issues, and scheduling inflexibility have made this experience extremely frustrating.
