I found it very interesting when I read A Place For Mom’s response to someone who said that when you have no money A Place For Mom will not help you, their response was it’s against federal guidelines for them to work with people that are receiving Medicaid dollars that is true but it’s not true they cannot help, they just can’t except a commission for someone on a Medicaid program they can help all they want but they will see no dollars. I work with other placement agencies that offer assistance with a medicaid beneficiary just because it is the right thing to do. So as you can see if A PLACE FOR MOM is not going to receive their referral fee which is built into the entrance cost for these seniors they don’t wish to assist, they also say they’re paid by their community partners yes they are paid by their community partners however their community partners pass the cost onto the consumer. As much as 100 percent of the first months rent go figure. Does this sound FREE to you?read more

A Place for Mom unfair with facilities they market for...
Reviewed on 2021-05-16T22:38:04
When Marcus from A Place for Mom called me to tell me he would send me referrals, he did not inquire about what places I had already reviewed. So when he sent me info on Hope Stay and the director there called to follow up with me, I told them both that I had found Hope Stay online before A Place for Mom made a referral. A Place for Mom charges 1/12th of the annual amount paid by a tenant as their marketing fee. In other words, their fee is equal to one months charges for your loved one to live at the place they recommend. This may be a fair practice for a family member who lives somewhere for a year, but my father was already on hospice care and he actually passed away after one month. So Hope Stay, who took excellent care of my father, didn't actually make one penny for their effort -- it was all paid to A Place for Mom. I don't think that is fair. I think it would be more fair for them to charge 1/12th of each month for the first year, especially if the tenant is on hospice care (which generally means they have less than 6 months to live). I feel A Place for Mom took unfairly from Hope Stay in our circumstance. For that reason, I cannot recommend their service. If they can adjust their charges to be more fair for the facilities they market for, then I may change my position. But at this time, I feel like they are cutting their nose off to spite their face because if this repeats, then the places will not be able to afford to stay in business. I hope they can see how unfair they have treated Hope Stay and correct their actions.read more

I’m writing this review to thank Karen Marlett for finding the perfect assisted living facility for my sister in law,Robin, who has heart disease, a defibrillator and suffers from muscular dystrophy. Our search was made more difficult by the pandemic. Fortunately, Karen knew the different facilities in the Annapolis area. She found Robin a facility that offers physical and occupational therapy 5 days a week, great food, and an attentive staff. Also, it was priced much cheaper than many of the places I looked at prior to contacting her. So, thank you Karen Marlett you really came through for us.read more

It took over 2 years to make a decision and the actual move for my husband. I can barley afford the care and placement now but absolutely couldn't have 3 years ago.A Place For Mom not only helped me find a place for him but also helped me find a way to afford it. My husband has dementia and I was his only 24/7 caregiver. Sometimes someone from A Place For Mom would call and I was so stressed out I couldn't talk. They were always so kind and understanding. It has only been a month since his move and I have more adjustments to make. However, I feel I can breath again and smile more. I can't thank Rose Johnson enough.read more
