Alma is great to its employees.

Alma treats its employees very well with a good work life balance and great programs as well as good pay.

Good Enough

I have been with Alma as a licensed psychotherapist for over 5 years and even though they are not perfect I have been blessed to work with many great clients and continue to do so. I just wish they did a better job with IT support and customer service as you are unable to talk to anyone on the phone. I am annoyed that I cannot use Alma telehealth app due to connectivity issues and there was no resolution. I tried similar companies and they are still the best in spite of the membership fee. They also have the highest rates compared to similar companies that provide insurance billing and administrative support.

My recent consultation with Jason Pham…

My recent consultation with Jason Pham from Alma was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. From the moment the call began, he appeared disengaged, disinterested, and almost annoyed to even speak with me. I had to initiate every part of the conversation, ask every single question, and practically pull answers out of him. His responses were one-word, dismissive, and provided no meaningful information or insight. To make matters worse, I was told that only two insurance companies were open for credentialing in my area — New York City. For a major metropolitan area with countless providers and plans, that was not only surprising but concerning. It gave the impression that Alma’s network is far more limited than they advertise. If this experience reflects how Alma treats clinicians or the true scope of their offerings, I cannot recommend them. A consultation should feel informative, welcoming, and transparent — not dismissive, unhelpful, and lacking basic industry access.

Unprofessional

I was ghosted by Josh Woodland for our initial consultation.

I scheduled therapy and shared a lot of…Canceled without warning after sharing personal info

I scheduled therapy and shared a lot of sensitive details hoping for support, making myself vulnerable and hopeful about the first session. Then, the same day as the session (in fact within an hour), I received an automated cancellation with no explanation. This left me feeling hurt and misled. A therapy platform that scales this way isn’t serving clients well, it damages trust. I hope they fix how they handle cancellations and hold their therapist accountable.

Vaporware/scam claiming to provide…

Vaporware/scam claiming to provide access to therapists, but is actually just a half-assed copy of calendly with no real employees, no physical offices, no phone numbers to call, just a "support" email that sometimes replies 10+ days after you email them.

Stay away from Alma at all Costs.

I would not recommend using Alma for access to a therapist at all. Within three months they have made mistakes with my insurance coverage - once denying I had coverage despite my providing documentation and current screenshots from my insurance company, and most recently submitting the same claim twice to my insurance carrier. When the original claim was paid, the duplicate was denied due to it being a duplicate. Alma took that duplicate denial and has been denying me services, stating that I don't have coverage when that is not the case. I have submitted copies of my EOB clearing showing the payment made to them for the date of service in question. They do not allow you to contact them by phone, stating they "don't have a phone number for clients" and instead require me to schedule a call back. However, all the call backs are at least a week out and in the meantime, I am being refused service despite having coverage. I cannot believe a company that claims to make access to mental health care refuses to speak with their clients nor make issues right in a timely manner. All I get are form replies so they clearly aren't even reading the documentation I am sending them.
