I must say that I have had good, positive experiences through about 8 to 10 stays at the Crowne Plaza Houston TX Galleria area hotel.At 7611 Katy Freeway/Interstate 10. Though showing its age just a tad. Though the pricing structure is a bit obscure -- to me, at least, and I have not researched it. Any number of caveats -- probably too few in number to cite, really. But with plenty of plusses, this hotel is an excellent value. And conveniently located, central to most Houston-area shopping and dining venues. I would give it 4 1/2 stars (out of five). The maintenance crew are responsive and top notch, when needed. Front desk personnel (Yesenia, Fatima, Shan, Deirdre, Carlos, Julio, Teigre, et al.) are generally right on top of things. They are one and all very personable and friendly, rendering excellent service. And most accommodating. Nice place to stay.

The absolute WORST place I've ever stayed Spent $80 on groceries and they froze in the REFRIGERATOR.They fixed the refrigerator immediately and I was told about the ruined food- and I quote "It'll be aight-aint nuttin wrong wit dem groceries"

Poor technology

I have been trying to change the password on my IHG rewards card. When using their website,they give you a prompt where they will email you a reset link. I asked 12 times over the course of 12 hours. I never received the link. So I called. They ask you to input your rewards number. I did. They then asked if it was correct. It was. I used "correct," "yes," and "right" and their voice recognition software failed each time. If a corporation is going to choose to use technology to interact with their customers, they need to ensure their technology is operational. I am now on hold to speak with a live person. I have been on hold for 18.32 minutes as of now.

The only difference is the people

I stay in IHG hotels all over the world and the only difference between hotels is the staff.I am staying at the Holiday Inn Brentford and the staff here are simply amazing. Rather than staying on business I am here with my family attending a family loss and nothing is too much for these guys. My 9 year old has been given the VIK treatment and is made up - thank you so much Team Brentford - on a tough family trip you have made all the difference. Cannot recommend enough.

Candlewood Suites in Hawthorne CA. Used to be nice hotel until they start letting "ROACHES" check in.Police were there while checking in...Not a good sign. The property has taken a serious nose dive and now that I am back traveling I will not be using Candlewood or their sister property Comfort Inn for the same reason.

This whole chain is a nightmare scam. get somebody to redo your billing coding you absolute bums.if i am staying somewhere i better be paying the amount you told me on the phone or i saw listed on the internet. This whole chain should be sued into the ground. No option to pay by cash?!!! You charge my card whenever you feel like it. Requiring payments in advance. holds put on my card for incidental fees, what are you? pre-emptively accusing your guests of being vandals or thieves? Get your nasty corporate hands out of my account. I have to lock my card after every payment so the scummy computer algorithm doesn't constantly try and steal from me. Pathetic, grasping, desperate

Had much higher expectations for a Holiday Inn

First off when I was reserving on Priceline it never went through so I had to call the hotel to put the reservation.Then we arrived I had unfortunately forgot my ID, the man at the counter did not greet me politely, basically asked what I was doing here and I said checking in. He asked for my ID which I forgot and he said he would have to have that regardless of me having my debit cards and such I forgot my ID in my coat. So we went back to get it. Patty, the front desk manager had put in for my requested early check in and was honestly the only friendly professional person in the place. So we come back at about 2:15 and its a girl at the counter now instead. I check in and the girl never even looked at my ID. Did I just go back for nothing? Maybe. But the stay just kept getting worse. I requested sheets at about 7pm and she didn't have anyone to bring them up so I had to come get them which was fine but showed they much be understaffed. The blankets were HORRIBLEY UNCOMFORTABLE. Worst blanket I have ever had to use. THE ONLY GOOD THING I HAVE TO SAY IS THE PILLOWS WERE COMFORTABLE and THE POOL WAS NICE ..even though the hot tub was down. Furthermore the AC/Heater fan does not blow right. Thats a fire hazzard. Dissapointing that the window couldn't even crack to get a breeze.The shower temperature fluctuated every five mitutes. And when I asked for spare towels they gave me BATH MATS. By 6 or 7 at night the cable was out since it rained. I work for a hotel and did not go there because they are struggling to keep up right now but I would have been better off. This was probably the worst hotel I have been to. Worst of all the neighbors were screaming all night at each other and kept my husband ( who's birthday we were celebrating) and my 6 year old up. The door was slamming every 30 mins and some lady was screaming at her s/o. The staff...standing around the front desk ...no masks on...not 6 ft from each other and not even interacting with guest when they approach the desk was really upsetting. Lastly I should be able to take my family anywhere and not be looked down upon. 5 people standing around the desk looking at me as if I just walked in the wrong place! The guest is suppose to feel welcomed, this place was HORRIBLE!!!!!
