Book a different triathlon

Reviewed on 2021-03-17T09:21:24

I was genuinely looking forward to this event. It was to test my own personal sense of ability and mental strength and I was putting in the training to get around that course. When it was cancelled I was disappointed but it was due to Covid and understandable. At the time of booking, I purchased the Ironman endorsed and recommended insurance (same page at checkout), for which I'm sure they receive a kickback from. At the point when Ironman cancelled the event, my insurance became invalidated. Apparently, they do not cover postponement. I asked Ironman for a refund and was told NO REFUNDS. You can swap to another Ironman in South Africa the same year (I'm in the UK), or move your booking to the following year but NO REFUNDS. Pretty poor service if you ask me so I agreed to postpone. So what has happened since. Well, Covid is still around in March, we are still under lockdown, the pools don't reopen until April, and the event is in June so an unacceptable amount of time for swim training, I would be surprised if the event actually goes ahead in all honesty. I certainly am not as fit as I would prefer to be given the closure of gyms (to training during snow) and pools closed. I asked for a refund again and told NO REFUNDS. It was explained to me that Ironman incur fees and charges from cancelled events. Isn't that why you have business liability insurance?? Certainly in my industry (travel) it is! Plus the travel industry have been forced to issue refunds through decent customer service and mandated by the law. Why do Ironman sit outside of this box? So now I need to waste my own time and hopefully a portion of Ironman's by going down the legal route. I am frustrated by the lack of customer focus and after care, especially for a sold out event. But there we go. Very clearly Ironman are in it for the money only and refuse to support those who bolster the business. Treat customers today how you expect your customers to treat you tomorrow.

Ironman surely don't care

Reviewed on 2019-04-16T07:36:48

Ironman surely don't care, I wrote my last review regarding an incorrect profile last October, now 7 months later, it still is not resolved. It is a minor issue, surely a 7 year old could fix it.

Do Ironman really care?

Reviewed on 2018-10-24T07:53:51

There is incorrect information on my profile, something easy to fix. Despite numerous emails to the appropriate people, all I have received in over 6 weeks, is an acknowledgement of my problem. I copy part of their response here: "Your inquiry is important to us and our staff will follow up with you shortly. IRONMAN and Rock 'n' Roll are committed to providing athletes the ultimate event experience, one that includes supporting participants from start to finish." Surely this is misrepresentation.

70.3 Ironman Mallorca

Reviewed on 2015-07-22T06:59:28.007

I have participated in this event for two years - 2014 and 2015. Both races is in Alcudia, Mallorca,Spain. For the 2015 race i had a very bad experience with the service crew that afterwords have given me the feeling of never going back. After finishing halv and IM route on a very warm saturday in May I crosses the finish line and is really tired. After the finish line we enter an area that should be for athletes only, where our "after race" bag is with our things, and there is quit a lot of non-athletes in this area. Suddenly my friend an girlfriend is in there, because the area that should be restricted because of all off our things were open for all. After finishing I got my finisher t-shirt, and because i was tired and hungry i didn't look at this before the next morning. It turned out that I was given an Relay shirt - as if you had finished as part of a team an not individually.. I went down to the local race office trying to get the t-shirt swopped to a "non-relay" but they couldn't give me one - they didn't have any more. After a lot of discussion - their approach was - too bad, we don't have anymore so that's your problem - i got them talked in to getting a new one, and send it to me. This is now 10½ week ago. I've written quit a lot of e-mails to the Athlete Services without any reply - then I tried the race director who forwarded me to Athlete Services who then did reply, just to say that they thought someone else would answer... I'm not any closer to get the finisher t-shirt and even though this is a good seasson start up race, i'll rather go for vacation than for racing with them. Their arrogance is increadible. BR / Jeppe
