Mixed Experiences

Purchased an Ethan Allen nightstand that matched my existing bedroom set a year ago that was in pristine condition, well-packaged, and reasonably priced ($267). That transaction gave me confidence to try Kaiyo again. Purchased a Restoration Hardware leather office chair recently that they listed with low resolution b&w pictures that did not reveal its true condition. A mobile phone could have taken better shots. They also had four separate listings with the same pictures, but different prices. Customer service refused to email separate pictures corresponding to the specific item numbers saying the chairs were inaccessible at their warehouse. I chose one in the midrange of the four chairs described as in good condition. Fortunately, I picked the chair up myself from their local warehouse and rejected it immediately upon seeing how dirty and well-worn it was. The retail price was inflated on their website from what's listed in RH's catalog. They should be ashamed for asking over $800 for something so raggedy. I have seen a display model just like it for less at RH's outlet. Kaiyo acted in bad faith and forces buyers to bear the full risk by charging nonnegotiable restocking fees for their dishonesty. Never taking that chance again. Better to buy risk-free from a local seller or consignment shop.

Suddenly OUT OF BUSINESS in the middle…

Suddenly OUT OF BUSINESS in the middle of my pending sale and they did not give me any of MY money for a 3-piece sectional they picked up and had active on their website at the point they decided to "change hands." This is akin to STEALING, to take someone's furniture with the promise of paying them money owed to them. So, they basically got my couch AND will get any future proceeds. I'll be filing a complaint with the BBB. Disgusting customer "service."

Unethical company

Unethical company. Attempted to sell expensive couch with them. They picked up and damaged during cleaning. Denied doing any damage despite pictures. Sold for pennies on the dollar. Haven’t received a dime from them. Refused to work with the BBB and FTC when I filed complaints. Only recourse is to file complaint with state attorney general.

I sold two items on Kaiyo in June

I sold two items on Kaiyo in June, and have not received payment for either item. The provided no ETA for my funds. They only said they're working on it. Do not sell here. Do not buy from them! What they offer is too good to be true.

AVOID KAIYO - SCAM ALERT

Kaiyo sold my mother's furniture and refuse to pay out the money she's owed. Avoid this company at all costs. It is likely bankrupt. They will happily sell your furniture and not pay you your share of the proceeds.

Sold several items and asked for a cash…

Sold several items and asked for a cash out which is supposed to come within 10 business days according to their website. Still haven’t received my money after 3 weeks and now the customer service phone number states it isn’t taking any calls. They owe me $200 plus they have my almost brand new sofa actively listed on their website that I bought from cb2 and I now it looks like I won’t ever receive proceeds for that either.

So I I’m having a similar experience…

So I I’m having a similar experience that somebody wrote about in another review. I sold a couch about a year ago and Kaiyo never notified me that it was sold. I checked back on my account and noticed I was due an over $1500 payout. I called the company about 3 1/2 weeks ago and was able to speak to somebody that gave me a 3 to 5 business day ETA. Of course I never received any check or money. I tried to email with just automated replies. Then I tried to call them again and they have been unreachable for three weeks. Their phone lines have been down with no available person to speak to. I am worried as well that they are going under. Does anyone have any current knowledge ? Short of filing a complaint with the BBB I’m not really sure what it is we can do to get our money owed. Extremely frustrating. I would not ever do business with this company. That is, if it’s still a company.
