Avoid Lejerbo, especially if you're an international tenant.

My experience with Lejerbo Aarhus was extremely frustrating. After I moved out, they kept most of my deposit, claiming repairs had been done. But with clear photo evidence and confirmation from the new tenant, it was obvious that nothing had been fixed. They ignored the facts, dismissed my concerns, and kept delaying the settlement without giving straight answers. What should have been a simple process turned into nearly a year of legal back-and-forth. As someone who doesn’t speak Danish, I felt taken advantage of. It’s hard to describe how exhausting and unfair the whole situation was. I genuinely advise others, especially internationals, to stay away from this company. They do not treat tenants with honesty or respect. Update: In their reply, Lejerbo admitted they never actually did the floor repairs I was charged for—they just kept the money to use later. That’s illegal under Danish tenancy law, which says landlords can only charge for work that’s actually been done. Their reply to my comment reinforces my point that the entire situation was handled not only unprofessionally but also possibly illegally.

Absolutely horrible experience

Absolutely horrible experience. I rarely write reviews but I’m writing this one as a warning. It doesn’t matter how much you scrub the entire apartment, there will be mistakes found anyway and it will be taken from your deposit. When I moved in, there were some pieces of furniture (bathroom cabinet, hooks, extension cord installed on the wall…) that come with the apartment, at least that is what I was told by the company. Although, during my move-out inspection, I was told it’s not supposed to be there and I have to pay for its removal. Now I’m expected to pay more than my original deposit to pay for the company’s lack of information. To add to that they didn’t even have my paperwork for the apartment stored so I had to provide all that on the spot, with no prior warning. I read some reviews when I was moving in that warned me about their approach, but I have never had such bad experience with a landlord in my 5 years in Denmark. It seems like the company likes to take advantage of the situation, particularly of internationals that do not know what to beware of.

We have lived in Frøgård in Haslev for…

We have lived in Frøgård in Haslev for over 5 years, and we have been on the waiting list for a house for over 2 years now in the area. I do not know what is happening, but we keep being skipped in receiving offers for houses. The only area where we are interested in actually moving is Vibevej, Tranevej og Stengårdsvej, afdeling 50. We have received only 2 offers for that area during the last year, for number 1 and number 10. We were number 11 the very first time we got an offer for Vibevej. We just found out that someone we know and is employed at Lejerbo, just moved at Vibevej number xxx, a house that was rented by one of our daughters teachers in kindergarten (she just bought a house). He has been on a waiting list for 3,5 years. The problem is that WE have NEVER received an offer for this number, and our status is active on the webside. Why didn't we receive an offer for it? It is fine to lose a house to someone in front of you, but that requires to actually receive an offer! It makes me wonder how many other times the offers skipped us? It is not the first time when it happens! We know from other sources that multiple people moved from that area in the last 2 years - vs only 2 offers received by us in total, but now it happens to someone we actually know. We are extremely frustrated and unhappy! It is NOT OK not to receive offers as long as we are paying to be on the waiting list. We also want to make a former official complaint about after Christmas.

Bad company!

I can confirm the same feedback as others provided already below - in a nutshell: Lejerbo doesn´t react on reported damages & dirt when you move in and when moving out, they charge high amounts for everything - even if the apartment has been cleaned for several days. They are not only keeping your deposit (don´t even hope to get something back...), they are charging you on top! It happened as well to my neighbour and many others. In my case it was 9.000 DKK and I lived there for almost 4Y. Don´t sign anything when moving out and document everything clearly when moving in and out. No need for painting or cleaning afterwards as they will for sure add it to their list.

Awful company

Awful company. They will rob everyone on everything. While moving out they will point even the smallest dirt even though pictures from day of moving in show exact dirt, meaning it was not my doings. Then they will take as much money as they can from deposit. The janitor opens once a day for an hour! You have to wait 2 months to get your deposit back and they will take 1000 kr for water reimbursement to give it back half a year later. As a students it is huge issue for me. Then flat is always smaller than what you have written on agreement and you can't even get photos of the flat before you move in when you don't have possibility to see it earlier! Lejerbo also doesn't check to whom it is renting flats so you can land in block of flats owned by Lejerbo and live next to drug dealer in one flat, 4 indians in 20 m2 flat and music developer creating music at 2 am in the morning. Lejerbo doesn't even react when you try to make a complaint on such people. I wish I could give them less stars.

Hello

Hello I can say only one thing about this company. They are very bad!!!! I was living over 2 years in a flat on the last flor. When I said that I would like to move out, they came to me to check my flat. At the begining they tell me price of painting. When I said I can do this myself everyone was disapointed. Price was really big. After this I painted whole flat and I call that flat will be ready next day. Man said that he has påske and he can come next week. When I said that I am moving out form country he said that it is not his problem but I can live keys to somebody and everything will be great. I did it and now when I moved I have information that painting was not good and they will paint again for 12000 dkk. I think that this is only because I moved out from country. When I said that I can come again or I can rent cheapper company they said that is to late..... I have still 11 days to do this but is too late. This is cheatting !!!! I think at this company has contract with paiting company and they do everything to do this. How can I check how they painting ?? Maybe after my job they will give my flat without do nothing....

Unprofessional firm with no consideration of its tenants

Hi everyone. I would like to share my experience about this company and hopefully someone can be helped by it in the future. My husband and I lived in Aalborg in one of their appartments close to the center. In July I was lucky to find a job close to Copenhagen and therefore had to move, since I would start my employement the 1st of September. We visited their department in Aalborg and signed the papers of quiting the apartment the 22 of July. Every week we called them to follow up on our case and the progress. Every week they said that they are handling our case and the will let us know if they need something from us. We asked them if we could share the apartment on facebook so that we could find the next tenant faster and avoid paying double rent. In the end of August we communicated with them again only to find out that someone lost the paper we signed and nothing was done for a whole month!!! Just to let you know, finding an apartment in Aalborg is especially challenging since there are so many people who move there. I was expecting that it will take less than a month for our apartment to be rented out again, since the demand is so high. We then signed (back dated) the same document and then they started processing our case. In the mean time we paid rent for September month in two places :( And as you all know, rents in Denmark are especially high. Anyway we accepted it and paid. We then started pushing more and more to see if we can finally get rid of that place. After contacting the kommune and checking on their waiting list, they finally told us that they have found someone who want to rent it the 1st of October and that we will not have to pay for another month. We were happy for it at that time only to discover that Friday the 30th of september the new tenant did not accept the offer so we were asked once again to pay for the month. I very much understand all the rules that i have to give them 3 months to find the next tenants and my obligation to pay for those months.Today they send us the flytteopgørelse. I am shocked to see that not only did they ask us to pay for October month BUT they are keeping the rent money of October from our deposit!!! One last thing is that when they finally made the apartment available on their website (one week ago), they attached pictures of another apartment!!! Seriously people of Lejerbo? Is there no communication/coordination between you people? Never felt that my money have such low value for some people. All in all, I strongly recommend you NOT to trust Lejerbo for your next apartment. Regards Vasilika

Terrible Experience, will never rent from again

Look at all the other negative reviews and ask yourself; do you want to risk dealing with this company? I regret every moment of my decision renting an apartment with them. In short, I rented a place from Lejerbo for over 2 years. I have rented over 10 apartments in my life and have rarely had any issues with getting my deposit back. The apartment I rented from Lejerbo was left in a similar condition from when I moved in. Upon moving out, Lejerbo kept my entire deposit plus charged me over fifteen thousand kroner more for normal wear and tear of living in an apartment. The charges where drastically inflated for even the smallest of things, and much of it was for imperfections that where there when I moved in. I did not find out about this until after I moved out of country. Honestly, If I had not moved out of Denmark at the time, I would have sued them in a court of law. A business like this would be sued daily by tenants if it was located in the U.S. In retrospect, I can offer this advise, anyone who must deal with this company should plan well ahead. Take dated and detailed pictures of the apartment prior to moving in. Document in writing VERY clearly in extreme detail every small thing which is not perfect in the apartment. If it does not appear in pristine new condition, document it in writing. In addition to that ensure you have an organization or an attorney for your rights as a tenant before, during, and after dealing with Lejerbo. "Never again" Should be Lejerbo's motto.
