Experience after 4 months: good

This is an update after my "past-2-weeks review" (review nr. 5fdca1f2755dc107e0c773f3 ).First the things that i (still) don't like: (1) the windows application still doesn't work on my system, which is a 64-bit Windows 7 installation: the problem is that the application crashes when it is started; the pCloud helpdesk was nevertheless trying to help, but it became clear that they also couldn't solve the issue; one of the suggestions was that it was a graphics driver issue, but in the meantime i got a different videocard with obviously different drivers and problem didn't go away. Also not after updating the pDrive to the newest version. Maybe the problem persists because i don't allow Windows updates?. (2) the functions "Sync" and "Backup" are almost identical: when the "Backup" functionality was introduced, i was hoping that it was more a kind of "one-way" data synchronisation (also called 'mirroring') where certain directories are exactly mirrored in the cloud including additions and deletions, but only when these changes happen on the local computer: this would prevent unintended data loss due to accidental deletions in the cloud, due to data corruption at pClouds's side, etcetera. This kind of synchronisation is typically called "backup" and should be a functionality in pCloud. The POSITIVE things now: i really really like the pCloud drive in linux (Ubuntu 20.04): i wrote myself a little bash script that does an rsync of certain folders whenever I execute it: this is super easy as the drive is regarded as a local directory on the system; the changes are then immediately propagated by the pCloud program (which should of course be active). I *love* this degree of freedom! So, still an overall content user of this service.read more
pCloud Prompt, Clear Response

I recently got a new iPhone. Automatic update with pCloud refused to work. I contacted pCloud, asking for step-by-step instructions to fix the issue. I told my husband that I would get a response very quickly as pCloud always answers my questions in a prompt and helpful manner. I was right! I had clear, step-by-step, instructions within a day. I use pcloud since 2 years across several platforms (Ubuntu Linux, Windows 10, Android).pcloud works very well and so far I did not experience any major issue.
I contacted the support several times. The support team answered quickly and very professionally.
More recently, I contacted pcloud to upgrade my 500GB lifetime plan to a 2 TB lifetime family plan. Although this option is not proposed on the pcloud.com website, the team proposed me a very convenient solution at a fair price.read more

Good Affordable Lifetime Storage Space
Reviewed on 2021-03-23T16:51:40
I recently upgraded to Custom Plan of 4TB Lifetime (350 + 350 = 700 USD). I like the fact that pCloud for Windows shows up as an external HDD by File Explorer,so I need not carry a physical HDD which are more prone to damage or failure.
Nowadays many Smartphones don't have a MicroSD slot, so pCloud app can act as an SD card replacement.
Desktop uploads happen to be a bit slow but good nonetheless.
I was earlier thinking to buy a 2TB Sandisk SSD but later thought to trust pCloud and upgraded to custom storage.
I wish to continue using pCloud for Lifetime as they promised.
(However I saw some users saying that their accounts have been unexpectedly deleted. I hope that doesn't happen with my account. In case of such an event, I hope pCloud will refund the amount of 700 USD. It is a huge amount given the per capita income of my country.)read more

A uniquely great cloud storage service
Reviewed on 2021-03-22T18:45:56
I purchased a lifetime subscription to pCloud several years ago during a promotion, and I’ve been really happy with their cloud storage solution.
Their prices are not only competitive, the product has the unique distinction of being a “virtual disk”: Unlike other services, everything you store in the cloud doesn’t *also* have to live on your hard drive.
pCloud appears on your computer like an external drive, and you just drag files where you want them (or you can tell it to automatically back up folders you specify). But the real magic is that, in my case, my pCloud storage is 2TB, but my computer’s hard drive is just 500GB. It just works, and it works really well.
pCloud is also available for mobile devices, where it acts like a gargantuan storage card.
There are all the usual handy features like shareable links, photo/screenshot automatic backup, deleted file restoration. For an upgrade fee, files can be restored indefinitely (versus the standard 30 days) and cryptography is also available.
When it comes to cloud storage, Dropbox may occupy the Kleenex/Coke space in people’s minds, but I wish more people knew about pCloud. It’s a good deal and a great service.read more
