Sometimes, when I solo travel I stay at the Ritz. I love to travel often and travel for both work and play throughout the year as a hobby so I stay in a lot of hotels.I've stayed at the Ritz in Vienna (Austria), Washington D.C., Osaka (Japan), and in Laguna Nigel (California coast). My favorite was by far the one in Austria where the service was superb, location was amazing and the concierge was able to book us sweet seats last minute at the State Opera house by making a bunch of phone calls.
The Ritz is a luxury chain through Marriott so if you are a rewards member you can get some crazy points for stays here as the rooms run upwards of hundreds of dollars a night. They always leave a small welcome token in the room with a note from the manager of the hotel welcoming me back, a nice personal touch.
The beds at these hotels are all the same and they are amazing. They are some of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever stayed in. I always sleep well in these luxurious and fluffy beds and look forward to them when I know I'm coming back to my room here.
The Ritz is not my favorite luxury hotel as it seems to cater to an older audience, but it is beautiful and a fun treat from time to time. Service here is consistent when you are traveling abroad so that is one thing to look forward to if you are out of your element. For example, while in Osaka the concierge informed me of a shuttle to the airport (which is an hour away from the city) for $10 and their free hotel car drove me there with a kind valet who helped me purchase the ticket and helped me with my bags. This saved me a $150 cab ride and I had no idea about it until they told me it was an option.
In Laguna Nigel I spoke to the concierge above nearby things to do who offered me free tickets to tour the nearby historical Mission and I spent a wonderful afternoon exploring and learning of the history of the place. That tour was my favorite thing I did while in Laguna.
Basically, they go above and beyond wherever you are to make your stay pleasant and to take care of you. Consistency like that is key when you travel and I appreciate that.
Also, the Marriott app makes booking hotels a breeze and is one of the better hotel apps (not better than Hilton, but close). You gain points for free stays in the future and can also get points by booking rental cars and tour through the app. It will make suggestions once you have booked your hotel.

I stayed at Mandapa, a Ritz Carlton reserve in Ubud, Bali a couple of years ago.
It's hands down the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at with an impeccable level of service and attention to detail.Set in a picturesque rice paddy in the heart of the countryside, the relaxation and tranquility levels experienced at this venue are second to none. If you ever get chance to stay here, make sure you do!
It's so much more than just a hotel, it's a full experience.

My family and I stayed at the Ras al Khaimah Al Wadi desert in October for 3 days.From the moment we stepped in it was breathtaking! The decor, ambience and customer service was excellent. Our room was amazing as it resembled a luxurious tent with the draped sheets, probably the best I've ever experienced. On our 2nd evening there we were given delicious complimentary baklava sweets which we thoroughly enjoyed.
However, on our first evening we went to one of their restaurants, the farm house. The food did not meet the standards we expected, the lobster was a total let down as I just about managed to scrape 2 teaspoons out of the shell! The salad was very similar to one my 11 year old made for his first cooking class, shabby with no dressing! It pains me to admit, that I paid about 200 Dhs for it. My husbands beef was similar, low quality with a high price tag. We also witnessed 2 other customers complaining about something.
We were still hungry after the meal so we drove to the nearest mall and had to eat again!
It's such a shame that this restaurant is getting away with this, someone needs to step in as it's not on par with the rest of the resort which is a shame.
