Shady practices

As someone else has written, be very careful with signing up to their trial. They sneak in someadditional DDI service and before you realise they have charged you 320 for that service.i initially thought to try their premium for a month and specifically set it at a month only to realise I'd been charged 2ce. 29.99 for their services for a month and 320 for this DDI service. They've refused me a refund so far through PayPal but I intend to get it back through my credit card company

Do not trust a free trial on seeking alpha.

Reviewed on 2021-03-19T21:50:08

I started a 14-day free trial of premium service on seekingalpha.com (SA for abbreviation).According to their promotion, there should be no charge on me if I cancel it on time. I canceled the subscription precisely the same day I subscribe. However, my credit card has been charged $ 320.80 for an annual fee. The fee was not charged for the premium service but for an unknown service called 'The data driven investor' (DDI for abbreviation). From the very beginning, I did subscribe to only one service that is a 14-day premium free trial. I did not click on any button by myself to subscribe to and did not agree to use the DDI service, not to say an annual subscription. Only SA did send me a separate email about DDI, which was automatically assigned to me, and the trial period is also 14 days. However, SA sent me too many emails a day that this email did not get my notice. As a result, I did cancel the premium service on time, but I did not cancel the DDI service. That's why I got a charge on my credit card. It really takes some effort to get my refund. (I here give one more star because they finally refund.) Take caution; when you subscribe to one service, they may assign additional services behind you. It's their tricks. Read every email in every detail to avoid being charged, not of your own will.

Censors comments

Reviewed on 2021-03-03T08:48:01

You need to tread very carefully in the comments section at Seeking Alpha, or you will get censored. A writer on the site, who also offers a paid service, put forward an investment suggestion without substantiating it. In a comment, I asked why he recommended it. He then referred to their paid service. I then wrote a very polite comment saying that if his freely available piece didn't offer reasons for this particular investment case, he wasn't demonstrating any analysis, thus making the content far less valuable. This comment was censored by Seeking Alpha, presumably because they fear any criticism of writers could lead to loss of revenue, as Seeking Alpha takes a cut of subscriptions to paid writers. This renders the whole site less trustworthy. Claims are often opaque, and it appears that short term revenue generation is prioritized over building a long term, valuable relationship with its readership.

Ignored by customer support after paying $300

Reviewed on 2021-02-28T15:12:42

Recently upgraded to an annual premium subscription ($300) via the Seeking Alpha app on my iPhone, but subsequently discovered that the premium features I'd paid for were still locked! I reached out to Seeking Alpha by raising a support ticket, and provided evidence of said transaction: they couldn't have been less interested, and after acknowledging my ticket, simply ignored me! I then raised the matter with Apple, who promptly refunded me. Unsatisfactory experience with Seeking Alpha.

Biased Censorship

Reviewed on 2021-02-24T15:52:39

Seeking Alpha is a tool of the far-left, radical new "woke", elite agenda. They publish only commentsthat are in agreement with their Democrat bias. Seeking Alpha Moderation refused to publish my comments that supported former President Trump, although they published every comment by others condemning Trump, often brutally, obscenely and unfairly. Seeking Alpha will shamelessly deny your First Amendment right to freedom of speech if they feel your comment(s) are not in accordance with their political agenda. They remind me of "Big Brother" in George Orwell's novel, "1984". Also, they will constantly attempt to sell you on their paid subscription services, which have received many negative reviews. Don't invest your time in Seeking Alpha. It is a losing proposition.

Negative: Never provides any facts, statistics or sources to back their biased opinions. If they provided some sort of evidence to back their 1000s of opinions they publish, I will change my review. No real effort put into their content just seems to be rushed to try and publish before any competitors. - Positive: Website design is easy to use.

Disappointed with their subscription…

Reviewed on 2021-02-15T10:35:50

Disappointed with their subscription only model. With search engines there is plenty of info available for free. Also as I understand the free article limit per month is now just 5 and for the number of emails I get and can't read its a pain. will be unsubscribing from all SA emails
