Dysfunctional and enraging company

This has been ongoing for several years. Company persists in rejecting all offers of credit, alleging that my cell phone number is not valid. Considering that I have had the same number for over 15 years, that allegation is completely preposterous. Phone contact with the company's representatives are beyond frustrating and totally unhelpful. Total and absolute Kafka time.

Literal impossible login loop, broken app, website, email, everything...

My experience with Synchrony has been a nightmare from start to finish. I ended up with this card completely by accident. I was at Mattress Firm, and the salesperson was extremely vague, failing to explain that I was actually opening a full credit card. Now I am stuck with a card that has a $7,000 limit but absolutely zero value to me. There are no sign-up bonuses, no rewards structures, and no benefits. It is just a useless line of credit that I never intended to open and I have only used once for the Mattress Firm. As bad as the sign-up process was, the technical side is even worse. They recently changed to a "new" login system for absolutely no reason, creating a literal catch-22 that makes it impossible to even manage my account. Here is the situation: The new system demands my full account number to re-register, even though I had been registered. I can not get the account number because every email I have from them has the account number redacted (only showing the last 4 digits). I never received full PDF statements via email, so I can not look there. I am somehow still logged into the mobile app on my phone, but it is completely dysfunctional. It refuses to load my previous statements or account details, just says "No Statements Available". So, to log in to the new website, I need my account number. To get my account number, I need to view a statement. To view a statement, I need to log in (or have a working app). I am completely locked out with no way to retrieve the one piece of information they require to let me back in. Between the misleading in-store practices, the uselessness of the card itself, and a technology ecosystem that traps you in an impossible loop, I would recommend avoiding Synchrony or Synchrony Bank or whatever their name is at all costs. Terrible website, terrible app, terrible business practices.

0 star

If there’s 0 star, I will probably rate zero on this Synchrony bank! I have my ebay credit card like for 3 yrs, at first this bank gave me 2k credit limit and after 6 mos it increased into 2500k. I asked for my credit line increased and they gave me 4k. I was so happy because I always used this credit card for big purchased like plane tickets, jewelries etc. I use it wisely, paid on time and never miss any due dates and pay bigger amount more than minimum but suddenly after 6 mos they decreased my credit line from $4k into $100! I was really upset and called the customer service but they could not do anything about it! What is the sense of having $100 credit limit???? I will close my credit card from this bank because they are not fair!

Shady practices

Got the OnePay Walmart card thinking it was 5% cashback but the subtly denied me for that card and approved me for one with no rewards all. I raised an issue with OnePay and they shifted all the blame to Synchrony. So frustrating to have to be hyper aware for shady practices like this when we already live in an attention economy. I’ll be sure to avoid any Synchrony services in the future because of this.

They Don't Protect Consumers

Purchased a piece of furniture from Ashley that was not what I ordered according to Ashley customer service agent. The sectional wouldn't fit into the room and Synchrony and Ashley only gave me 50% refund even though I have no couch. Unbelievable.

Terrible communication

I had a Sam’s Club synchrony card for more than 10 years, no issues, paid on time. I got a new card at Homegoods and had trouble getting the account setup on the ap Because that card isn’t supported. Finally got it set up online to make payments and messed up the account number and their accounts have no check to confirm the account is connected. Couldn’t figure out why my payment was being rejected. Had two payments rejected in that card and synchrony closed BOTH of my cards and never even called to figure out why was going on. This has negatively affected my credit score at a time that I am buying a new car. DO NOT GET A SYNCHRONY CARD.

They lie about how they use your credit…

They lie about how they use your credit report. I think this is a violation of a few federal laws. Synchrony close one of my cards after I did nothing wrong. One representative said that they used only the information from my credit report, nothing else, no internal data. Another representative said that they used only the activity on my Synchrony account. So either they are using my credit data and lying about it, or they are deliberately obscuring the process so that I can't appeal.

Synchrony Is Ripping Me Off

I took a 12 month no interest loan from Newegg through Synchrony bank. I made 11 payments via direct payment. When the last payment was due, I contacted Syncrhrony to have the last payment made (30 days before it was due). They told me to make the payment via their website. But I told them I could not get into my account because Synchrony had made changes to their system and would not allow me into my account. The Synchrony rep told me this was a problem and that many account holder were having the same problem. She told me that she could take my bank account number and routing number and make the last payment for me. I gave her the info and then forgot about it. Later, I got a notice that the payment was rejected by my bank and that I was being charged $30.00 for the reject. I called my bank and they told me that Synchrony had not tried to debit my account. I then called Synchrony, both by phone and then by chat. After a lot of back and forth, the rep finally said to me (by chat) "As I understand you have a query about the return payment fees charged, I would like to inform you that it was charged due to a payment return as the payment was returned due to mismatch of the bank account number entered at the time of payment. Unfortunately, as this is purely system based, we are unable to remove the fee from our end due to the process limitations even at the manager level as we can work only on an late fee. We apologize for not meeting your expectations at this time." I told the rep that the Synchrony rep wrote my information down wrong and now Synchrony wants me to pay $30 for their mistake. The rep then told me (by chat) "I can understand how frustrating it would be for you. We are sorry for your experience. Since this is automatically charged, we do not have an option to over ride even at the manager level." Inotherwords, Synchrony is not at fault. I am. For paying off my account 30 days early. And by having a rep handle the transaction instead of the normal debit proceedure. The chat rep then said "we suggest you reverify your bank details before sharing it with us. This is insane. I have NEVER heard of anything as stupid as this before. The bank makes a mistake and their customers have to pay for their mistake. If I was Synchrony, I would make mistakes all day long and get rich! Oh wait ... they ARE RICH! Wonder why?
