Generally very good bookshops. I actually prefer going into my local Waterstones in East Grinstead than the local independent book shop in the town personally.Very fast ordering service here. Always good staff polite and helpful, always seem to make a point of acknowledging with a greeting to one as you go in. Which is very pleasing, and not something you see in most shops these days. I've also ordered books online with Waterstones and delivery was very fast indeed.

Ordered a book didn’t receive it in the timeframe that Waterstones said I should-spoke to customer service a gentleman called Barry Dent he was most helpful,friendly, courteous and efficient. My book was with me four days later. If I could give him 10 stars I would.
I try to buy all my books from Waterstones as am a great fan.

Excellent range, especially in the bigger stores. Love the deals (BOTO1/2P). Biographies,horror and literary sections are probably the best.
That said, they struggle to compete on price compared to most online platforms and/or supermarkets (WHS, Tesco etc)

Waterstones won't print a book in stock

I ordered a book about 4 days ago. The book was in stock online and I ordered for click and collect.The tracking page has been stuck on order received. Finally rang them today to see what was happening, and the guy who answered the phone explained to me that even though the book is "in stock" Waterstones will not print it until they receive enough orders of the book as its expensive for them to do so. There is no ETA when that will be. I was told that the fact they have it in stock is a matter of interpretation, since they do have it and they just refuse to print and deliver it. I was told it could be weeks or it could be months. Considering its an academic book of a highly niche topic, I think I will have to wait around for months. In all other cases I would have asked for a refund already but I can't. This is because I converted some lifestyle vouchers to Waterstone gift cards and have no desire to be stuck with £50 gift cards with them after this experience. If I ordered from Amazon I would have had it delivered 3 days ago. Kudos to the guy on the phone for being honest, but this kind of service is appalling. Never again will I purchase any book from Waterstone, even in-store. The best solution the guy on the phone offered me was to call back in a week's time for an update and maybe they will have decided to print by then.
This is what the confirmation email says: "We aim to dispatch in stock items within 24 hours". What a flat out lie that is!
